With the NFL looking towards the draft and the rest of their offseason, the USFL has been gearing up for their first season of the relaunch. With the USFL draft being completed with all eight teams having a roster in place. We now turn our attention to the first week of USFL football April 16th in Birmingham, Alabama where the New Jersey Generals take on the hometown Birmingham Stallions. The following day the other six teams kick off their season the Michigan Panthers take on the Houston Gamblers, The Pittsburgh Maulers face off with the Tampa Bay Bandits, and the New Orleans Breakers square off with the Philadelphia Stars. All these games will be played at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama. Every USFL regular-season game this year will be played in Birmingham. The games will be broadcasted on FOX, USA, NBC, and FS1. The playoffs will take place in Canton Ohio at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. The USFL will play 10 weeks of football, with two divisions the North and South. Northern Division has the Michigan Panthers, New Jersey Generals, Philadelphia Stars, and Pittsburgh Maulers. Southern Division features the Birmingham Stallions, Houston Gamblers, New Orleans Breakers, and Tampa Bay Bandits. The USFL has some headliner coaches such as Jeff Fisher for the Michigan Panthers and Kevin for the Houston Gamblers. The other coaches include Skip Holtz for the Stallions, Mike Riley for the Generals, Larry Fedora for the Breakers, Bart Andus for the Stars, Kirby Wilson for the Maulers, and Todd Haley for the Tampa Bay Bandits. It is easy to say that there is some interest in this start-up league. The hope is that the same issues that plagued the AAF and XFL don’t befall the USFL.
