Creating the New Super Conference

With all the conference realignment happening in the NCAA and the arms race that comes with it I've decided to create a new super conference using the best of the rest. For this I have handicapped myself I can not take teams that are or going to a power 5 conference so no current or future Big 10, Big 12, ACC, SEC, or PAC12 schools. I can bring up only two FCS schools and with this being a conference for all sports I can bring D2 schools up if I see fit. Got all that? Ok good because here we go. First, we have to have our football powers which is an easy first pick. What school has had major success outside of the Power 5 winning New Year’s 6 bowl games? The Boise State Broncos will bring an immediate impact on TV ratings as they have a pedigree that is well established. Next up is a newcomer to success in the FBS, but has already shown that they are a force in their conference and the Sun Belt as a whole. The Appalachian State Mountaineers have been a force in the group of 5 conferences since their call up in 2015 to the FBS level. As they have gone to seven straight bowl games winning 6 of the 7. Making App State an easy pick. With our two football powers, we look at some major TV markets that are available. And where better to start than in the Lone Star state where we’ll pick two teams. First up Dallas now you might be wondering what school is in Dallas that isn’t in one of the Power 5. Well, it’s the Southern Methodist University Mustangs more commonly known as SMU. The Mustangs will bring both a good football and basketball team with them as they’ve turned the program around in football becoming ranked in 2 of the last 3 years. The other school in Texas is the UTSA Roadrunners. A surprising pick for many here, but with their rise in football last year they have made a case for me to put them in. Their basketball team is an average team. For the next major market, we travel to the Volunteer state to grab the University of Memphis Tigers. A team that was snubbed from joining the Big 12 gets picked up in our new conference. A powerhouse in basketball and a force in football Memphis is a no-brainer pick-up. 5 down now as we travel to the west coast to southern California. No not for that team, but another. San Diego State as the Aztecs have made a lot of noise in both football and Basketball for a while now and they are finally getting the reconciliation that they deserve. We’ll rapid-fire the next few schools. Southern Florida, UCONN, Charlotte, Liberty, Fresno State, Coastal Carolina, Louisiana Layffete, Arkansas State, Wyoming, and Utah State all are either in a major TV market USF in Tampa or are good in Football or Basketball. The final two are North Dakota State and Northwest Missouri State. NDSU is a powerhouse in the FCS for the past decade and NWMSU has dominated D2 Basketball over that same span as well as football. 18 teams 2 divisions 1 conference. To review the Western division is Boise State, Wyoming, San Diego State, Fresno State, SMU, UTSA, NDSU, Utah State, and Northwest Missouri State. The Eastern division has Charlotte, USF, Memphis, App State, Coastal Carolina, UConn, Liberty, Arkansas State, and ULL. Now the only thing left is a name for this conference. I could go with the Big 18 or something like that. However, I am going with a name that makes sense for this conference. The United American Conference is a united conference to combat the rise of the other super conferences. And that is my pitch for a new super conference.
