The Last of the Scared NFL Stadiums

In the billion-dollar industry that is NFL, Stadiums have gotten bigger and more elaborate, costing billions of dollars to construct. NFL teams have left loyal fan bases for the allure of a shiny new stadium in a city that in recent cases hasn’t deserved a team. Thankfully not every NFL team follows this hollow path, and some haven’t needed to construct a new temple to pigskin in the last 15 years. Some haven’t since the 1970s and those are topics for us today. There are five stadiums in the NFL that shouldn't be replaced they are Soldier Field, The Superdome, Arrowhead Stadium, Lambeau Field, and Highmark Stadium. Each one shows the history and passion of the team and fits the city they represent. Soldier Field is historic, it was built in 1924 and was built on hard work and grit. The Superdome was built in 1975 and is big, bold a party atmosphere much like the city itself. Arrowhead Stadium was built in 1971and was built upon blue-collar roots. BBQ and with an unwavering pride to the city and team. Lambeau Field The Mecca for the NFL is the oldest of all the NFL stadiums and the first one built just for football. It is rugged, tough and a monument to the legends who have come before. Highmark Stadium in Buffalo was built in 1973 it is gritty, dirty, and durable much like the mafia who go to the games. All five have traditions not bought from elsewhere but were made uniquely theirs at the same site year after year after year. Each has opted for renovations over new stadiums wisely. In the span of these stadium's lifetime, many great stadiums have come and gone. These are the last of the NFL stadiums from the early to mid-1900s. With the rumors of the Bears building a new stadium in Chicago now more than ever proves one thing. We need to protect these stadiums at all costs, for the history they have and for future generations of NFL fans to enjoy them as we have enjoyed them. However, I do feel as if the time of these great marvels is coming to an end much as many stadiums that have come before them. As greed can and will be the downfall of these beloved icons of football.
